The Purpose of Bell: According to the story, an old gray-beard biker was returning from Mexico on a cool desert night, illuminated by a full moon. His saddlebags were filled with trinkets for kids back home and his biker friends. Everything seemed perfect, little did he know that the gremlins were waiting for him. These mischievous creatures would lay traps on the road or employ invisible devices to damage his bike. As the biker approached, they frightened a coyote onto the road just as he rounded a sharp turn. The biker skidded and crashed.

When he regained consciousness in the ditch, he noticed the gremlins advancing towards him. His saddlebag had been torn off and lay nearby. In a desperate attempt to scare away the creatures, he started throwing items from his bag, and to his surprise, the only objects that frightened the gremlins were the bells intended for the children. The biker quickly grabbed the bells and their ringing confused the gremlins.

Thankfully, a couple of passing bikers heard the sound of the bells and followed it. Upon spotting the biker, who seemed frightened, they shouted to scare away any nearby animals. The old gray-beard was immensely grateful for their timely rescue. As a token of appreciation, he cut some tassels from his saddlebag and used them to attach a bell to each of their bikes. He explained how these bells would ward off gremlins and that if they ever found themselves in trouble, they could ring the bell for assistance.
